There’s often a lot of confusion about the two people named Enoch in Genesis. The first Enoch was the son of Cain and Awan (according to the Book of Jubilees). It’s often believe the city that Cain built was named after Enoch. However, in the original Hebrew text, it’s unclear if the city was named after him or if the city was actually built by Enoch himself.
The Prophet Enoch The Enoch that most people are familiar with is actually descended from Seth, the third son of Adam and Eve. That Enoch is the prophet that people know about, the one who ascended into heaven after living for 365 years. His father’s name was Jared. That Enoch was also the great-great-grandfather of Noah. Enoch, Son of Cain, and His Lineage The son of Cain would have a great many descendants. His son’s name was Irad, and Irad’s son was named Mehujael. One of the more notable members of Enoch’s lineage was Lamech, who was the grandson of Mehujael and the son of Methushael. The reason that Lamech is notable is that he was the first noted polygamist in the bible, taking on two wives, Adah and Zillah. This is where Enoch’s lineage starts to become interesting. Jabal, Son of Lamech & Adah Jabal is notable in the bible as the “ancestor of all who live in tents and raise livestock.” There are a couple different interpretations of this bible verse, which is Genesis 4:20. Some theologians believe that Jabal was the father of all cattle ranchers, as well as the father of all tent-dwellers. Basically, he would be considered an agricultural pioneer and also an architectural pioneer. It’s also believed that Jabal was a weaver, so he was a clothing pioneer, as well. It’s also possible that Jabal was literally just a nomadic herder of cattle. Other theologians believe that Jabal was the father of the Bedouin lifestyle. Whereas his uncle Abel simply sustained himself with his flocks, Jabal could actually trade with his livestock, meaning a major cultural advancement. In any case, Jabal was a notable guy.
Jubal, Son of Lamech & Adah
Jubal may not be quite as notable as Jabal, but he is important nonetheless. The bible refers to Jubal as the “ancestor of all who played the harp and flute." Different translations of the bible differ on what actual instrument that he played. In the Hebrew text, it is said that he played the Kinnor and the Uggab. The Kinnor is translated to be a harp in the NIV translation and a lyre in the ESV translation. The Uggab is translated as a flute in the NIV and a pipe in the ESV. Noted Old Testament scholar Gordon Wenham made the suggestion that he could have played a “reed or a Pan’s pipe.” Whatever the case may be, Jubal was a noted musician. Anyone who plays a harp, lyre, or any woodwind instrument can be thankful for Jubal’s contributions to music. Tubal-Cain, Son of Lamech & Zillah One of Zillah’s two children with Lamech was named Tubal-Cain. His name has been interpreted to mean "he who spices the craft of Cain." In Genesis 4:22, it says that Tubal-Cain was the “forger of all instruments of bronze and iron” and an “instructor of every artificer in brass and iron,” depending on which translation of the book that you read. There are a couple of interpretations of this verse. Some suggest that Tubal-Cain may have been a pioneer of brass and iron artificer. Scholar T.C. Mitchell has suggested that he “discovered the possibilities of cold forging native copper and meteoric iron.” It’s also fair to say that Tubal-Cain may have also been the first chemist, and others suggest he may have been a miner. The Hebrew history Antiquities of the Jews written by Josephus gives us a bit more insight into Tubal-Cain. He apparently “exceeded all men in strength, and was very expert and famous in martial performances.” In that same text, it’s said that he “first of all invented the art of working brass.” It’s also believed that he used this art to make weapons of war. Whatever the truth may have been, Tubal-Cain was very good at metalworking. Naamah, Daughter of Lamech & Zillah The last of Lamech’s children in the bible is a daughter named Naamah, Tubal-Cain’s sister. It’s not really clear why she is specifically mentioned in the bible other than to point out that Zillah had two children with Lamech. One early Jewish text actually identifies Naamah as the wife of Noah, which would certainly be notable. However, there is some controversy on this subject. A medieval Jewish text names a different Naamah as the wife of Noah, one related to Seth and not from Cain’s bloodline. Additionally, a 17th century theologian by the name of John Gill theorized that Naamah was actually the wife of Noah’s son Ham. There’s also a demon by the name of Naamah who’s mentioned in the Zohar, one of the foundational texts of Jewish mysticism. It’s very possible that this Naamah simply was a daughter of Lamech and her name simply was later used for others. Still, the popularity of her name is at the very least interesting. While Enoch, Son of Cain’s lineage isn’t nearly as exciting as his uncle Seth’s, it’s still good to see that Cain’s lineage did bear some interesting people.

Demonology - Lilith as Adam's Wife
Lilith is a famous demon that is known for many different reasons. One of the most important stories about Lilith is her association with Adam, as his first wife before Eve. It was actually said in Judaism for a time that Lilith, not Eve, was responsible for Adam’s downfall. Who is Lilith? While many Christians believe that Eve was the first woman, it may actually be the case that Lilith was actually the first woman created. In Jewish folklore, it is said that Lilith was actually made from the same dirt as Adam. 13th century writings say that Lilith left Adam and coupled with Archangel Samael, after she refused to be a subservient for Adam. Lilith in the Bible Interestingly, Lilith only makes a single appearance in the Bible. In that case, she was depicted as a shunned demon in the wilderness. It was the prophet Isaiah who shunned her. She then reappears in Jewish sources from the Middle Ages as Adam’s first wife. Though she isn’t mentioned again in the Bible, she is referred to as a succubus in the text of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Modern Lilith Worship
Lilith has migrated into the mythologies and folklore of many different cultures, including the Israelites, Egyptians, Greeks, and even the ancient Hittites. In Babylonian Demonology, Lilith is depicted as a winged spirit who preyed on pregnant women and infants. Although the exact portrayal can vary, most who speak of Lilith say she represents everything chaotic and ungodly. Some say she has cast a spell on humankind. She is also sometimes referred to as the patron of abortions. In some cultures, especially Jewish cultures, protective spell bowls are buried to protect women and their offspring from Lilith. Her image also appears on many modern incantation bowls. Some argue with the depiction of her as an evil being, but instead state that she represents freedom, since she refused to be submissive. It is said that instead she represents the idea that we all are equal beings and created from the same earth.
The Biblical character of Jezebel is a figure associated with betrayal and of false prophets. This character was initially a Phoenician (what is now called Lebanon) princess and worshipped the nature based god Baal who lives in Hell for some parts of the year. She later became a queen of Israel who was married off to King Ahab in a political marriage. She controlled her husband to turn his back on his worship of the god Yahweh and to instead worship the nature god Baal. She punished those who believed in Yahweh or were prophets of Yahweh. To counter the worship of Yahweh, she brought with her 800 prophets for Baal. When the queen brought the prophets of Baal, the Jewish prophet Elijah foretold that a great famine and draught would come over Israel. In the story Elijah's prophecy came true. She committed other acts of evil to control those around her, such as creating false evidence that an innocent man who owned land that the king wanted committed a crime. They sentenced him to death by stoning. The prophet Elijah condemned the death of the landowner and prophesized that King Ahab and his family would all be eaten by dogs. The people and the court of Israel literally overthrew her control by throwing her from her balcony. Dogs tore her corpse apart and ate her remains. Her story is recorded in the Book of Kings in the Hebrew bible.
The Meaning Behind the Name The name of the former queen of Israel means: "Where is the prince?". The question is meant as a cry to Baal when he was believed to be in Hell.
The Modern Day Usage of the Term
The biblical story of Jezebel still influences pop culture of today. The term is nowadays used to as a derogatory term to refer to a woman of loose morals or of a corrupting or controlling nature. The description of her in the bible mentions that she wore finery and had a painted on face. This has caused makeup and seductive clothing to be regarded as something negative by some followers of the bible throughout history. Biblical Horror Author Josephine Leonard Jezebel appears as a character in one of the "Tales From the Demon" short stories recently released by Thriller author Josepine Leonard. The Old Testament is an important segment of the Holy Bible. That book is the basis of many world religions, including Judaism and Christianity. His presence would set the stage for some incredible events, which would certainly put mankind to the test too.
God's Master Plan God has a master plan and that tends to affect the lives of a lot of people. He created the world and caused the events of the biblical flood too. He oversaw Moses as he guided the Hebrew people out of Egypt. God also wrote the Ten Commandments and gave Moses an instruction to further lead his people. That allowed the Hebrews to flee from Egypt when they got a chance. Later on in the book, other Hebrew men would rise to meet God's favor too. King Saul and King David were great leaders who started the state of Israel. Men like Job would live out their lives in a way that pleased God as well. Hebrews in the Old Testament The Old Testament is known for great conflict and strife for the Hebrew people. According to the word of the bible, the Hebrews are God's chosen people in the Holy Land. Canaan was conquered by the Israeli people long ago. Now the descendants must continue on the legacy of that conquest and conversion. The Old Testament also makes some prophecies that will surprise many readers. It argues that the Hebrew people will rise to ascendancy under a new leader. A new King will rise and lead the people to greatness. Their status as God's chosen people will be made clear in the future. God's Kingdom will be glorified and that is valuable for a lot of reasons as well. Nephilim in Genesis
Genesis 6:1-4 mentions that the Nephilim were creatures that existed before the Deluge. They represented an important segment of the Earth and were supposedly the daughters of men. The Nephilim are mentioned in the Hebrew bible and many interpretations are gleaned from that. The offspring may be referred to as fallen angels and offspring of fallen men themselves. They are not counted among the angels of Heaven. They were damned to walk the Earth and men would encounter them on occasion. That demonstrated the true gravity of the Fall of Man from Genesis. The expulsion of mankind from the Garden of Eden had produced a profound effect on the Earth. Nephilim in Numbers Numbers 13:33 makes further mention of the creatures called Nephilim. They inhabited the area of Canaan before the Israelite forces conquered the area. In fact, the Israelite forces actually encountered the creatures when they conquered Canaan. Conquest of Canaan also required the expulsion of these offspring demons from the region. That area was cleansed and a new era of mankind seemed to emerge. But the looming threat of the creatures was always an ever present threat to them. Israel would forever remember the influence of these offspring too. Lucifer and the Nephilim Lucifer seems to recognize these offspring and may use them from time to time. The creatures were once angelic and children of the Heavens. But during the fall of man, they mingled with the children of Cain. Their offspring would ultimately produce a race of monsters feared by mankind. The children of Cain would forever tarnish the world until after the Deluge. That influenced the world and changed perspectives on the experience of mankind. Man no longer saw the world as his own anymore. It was arguably the domain of these creatures claimed by Lucifer. That was a significant blow to the progress of Man during the Deluge era. Nephilim in Hell and the Deluge Hell has seen a rise of the offspring known as Nephilim. They are cast out of paradise, doomed to walk the Earth just like mankind will be in time. But their large size and monstrous appearance has made them an important figure in time. Hell has seen more numbers of the creatures go on the rise recently. That has bolstered the legions of Hell and added some diversity in good time as well. Lucifer is pleased with the change of pace that the creatures introduce. These monstrosities are a significant challenge to the Earth and Hell is very pleased with that change. Nephilim are feared by men and Moses makes mention of that during his time. The era before the Deluge included a lot of fearsome foes for mankind to encounter. Biblical era men would encounter these creatures and take note of their great size. They mentioned that men would seem like grasshoppers in size compared to these offspring of Cain. Their large size would catch men off guard and put fear in them. Genesis 6:2 states that so called "Angels" actually fathered the race. But the offspring quickly lost their way in the world before the Deluge takes place. Mythology from other cultures will make mention of these offspring from time to time. Some say that Orion may have been the father of the original offspring. Both Orion and the creatures are mentioned by certain folklore tales in the world. Sumerian mythology also makes mention of creatures bearing a similar name. These creatures were actually considered to be heroes in the folklore of the culture. Sumerian mythology paints a good picture of the offspring on Earth. Similarly, the creatures go forward in a world before the Great Flood takes place on Earth. Nephilim in Modern Times Recently, new media sources have also made mention of the offspring. The creatures make an appearance in TV episodes of the X-files and Supernatural. The video game Darksiders will also showcase the creatures along the way. Typically, the media will paint the creatures as dark and dangerous for a number of reasons. They are typically the antagonists in a series that is carefully concocted. These media sources actually mention that the offspring were unholy right from the start. They are the product of a forbidden union between angels and demons. That makes for a dramatic retelling of the offspring mentioned in the bible too. The roots of the demon, Lucifer, and his descent to rule over the underworld, or Hell, have been told numerous times dating back to ancient cultures. For Biblical horror author Josephine Leonard of Indianapolis, the story of the fallen angel has taken up much of her time. Leonard has been exploring the themes surrounding the figure of Satan and built on the original stories in the Bible and beyond with her work. In her latest book, Indianapolis-based Biblical horror author Josephine Leonard recently discusses the figure of evil within, "Tales From The Demon" which tackles the difficult idea of the Devil, demons and evil.
The "Light-Bringer" The Latin translation of Lucifer is "Light-Bringer", with the everyday meaning of the word being "morning star" within Roman society. The Latin translation is similar to those used in the Old Testament where the name gives no indication of a fallen angel as it refers back to early Islamic traditions regarding the arrival of humans on Earth. The idea of the devil beginning life as an angel who refuses to prostrate himself before God or the figure of Adam in the Garden of Eden is not one seen in early Christianity. In fact, two bishops carried the name with Saint Lucifer of Cagliari and a former bishop of Siena. The Rebellious Angel One of the most famous stories based around the figure of Satan in the Christian tradition is that of the fallen angel who departed the service of God for any variety of reasons. One of the first mentions of the "Light-Bringer" in the Bible is found in the book of Ezekiel where the figure we now often see as the devil is said to be a perfect creature created by God. Despite the perfection discussed in the Bible, Ezekiel explains the figure was corrupted by its own beauty and wisdom resulting in God casting it to Earth from heaven. As the Book of Ezekiel continues the story, the demon figure is described as believing so much in its own importance to the universe which resulted in the desire to take the position of God. Eventually, the story explains the first sin committed in the universe was that of self-importance which resulted in the fallen angel being cast out of heaven to Earth. A Human Figure and Devil The figure who many now believe to be the Devil is linked to a former King of Babylon known as Tyre. The figure of Tyre offers a similar story to the fallen angel who departed from Heaven to Hell as it is told in Ezekiel with the King being condemned for believing he was a God despite his mortal background. A number of scholars believe the figure of Tyre is referred to during much of the writing on Satan found in the Old Testament. However, it is generally agreed the demon comes into focus later in the story of the fall of the Babylonian monarch who is seen by some scholars as the human embodiment of the Devil. Over the course of the story of Satan told in the Old Testament in the book of Ezekiel, one of the important points told is of the fact the name of the Devil began as Lucifer before being changed to Satan after the angel was cast out of Heaven to Earth and Hell. The Heavenly Council One of the most famous stories about the fall of Satan to Hell is told by many who follow the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In this story, the figure of the "Light-Bringer", or "Morning Star" is taking part in a Heavenly Council when he refuses to accept the will of the Lord. The Mormon Scripture goes on to explain, after refusing to accept the will of God and beginning a rebellion, the Devil is cast out of Heaven and condemned to travel between Earth and the Underworld. The Mormon belief system sees Satan considered a perverse figure intent on destroying the souls of men. Occultism and Luciferianism To those who follow the religion of Luciferianism, the figure they follow is the fallen angel who is seen in a completely different light to that depicted by Christians. To many who practice occultism, the Devil is a liberator who has been cast out of Heaven by an illegitimate God or Jehovah. There are a number of followers of Luciferianism who believe the figure they follow was actually the God of all we see before his position was usurped by Jehovah and he was cast out of his own home. Interpretations of the Devil There are many different ways to interpret the figure we now refer to as the Devil; for example, Dante created an iconic interpretation of the Devil in his poem, "The Divine Comedy". In the poem, the figure is described as possessing three faces used for chewing on sinners while the huge wings of Satan are used to blow cold winds to Earth. Around the World, Hell and Lucifer are seen in different ways as many European traditions see the cloven hoof as a link between the Devil and goats. The English county of Lancashire has many stories detailing the trickery of the Devil as he tried to persuade innocent people to give him their soul in return for three wishes. The Lancashire hillside of Rivington Pike is said to be haunted by a mysterious, spectral horseman thought to be the devil himself capable of appearing in different forms to trick people into following him and giving up their soul. It is believed that Ashtaroth is named after the Mesopotamian deity Ishtar. Hell needs his guidance and has relied on him for quite some time now. Ashtaroth is actually part of an evil trinity with Lucifer and Beelzebub combined. That trinity is widely recognized in hell and people will worship the demon from time to time. Lucifer relies on his leadership to keep all of the demons well organized in that realm. People worship Ashtaroth and see him as the Great Duke of Hell. The realm has seen some tremendous growth in demons since his reign got off to a great start. That proves that the demon leader has a considerable amount of sway and deserves to be part of the evil trinity. Ashtaroth in King Solomon
Ashtaroth in the Hebrew BibleThe Hebrew Bible does make mention of him from time to time. That does suggest that he has been in an alliance with Lucifer for many years now. Hell has become a frightening place with him at the forefront. That gives Lucifer free reign over many of the denizens in Hell. The human world has been changed forever with his interference in time. He is making headway and people want to discuss upcoming arrangements now being made. True fans of Lucifer also need to get caught up with Ashtaroth in certain ways. He could prove to be an influential figure for many too. Biblical Horror Author Josephine LeonardBiblical Horror author Josephine Leonard is expanding on the world of demons. Vetis is like all fallen angels in that he was once one of the most beautiful and pristine of all the holies. He did not fall instantly, but his fall was so great that it would be hard to deny that he chose to be the evil thing that he is today. The tale of Vetis takes you from Lucifer and his own personal hell to the ways that demons work even in the modern day. What does it mean to know something about Vetis who is so much a part of the world of demonology? Vetis Was Not Always Evil Lucifer did not just suck all the demons right into hell automatically. These were fallen angels who were on the wrong side of the holies in a great battle that none of us ever saw. The story of Vetis is really about what happens when you realize you have been betrayed and have no way of getting back the position that you had. Vetis’ Transformation The transformation of Vetis is something that a lot of people can debate, but it seems to be something that happened when all the angels were battling. However, it does not seem like he just fell one day and all the other angels went with him. He had his own story which took him to the depths. This is where people often get confused because they do not see the choice that happens after the fact. He chose to have the evil powers in him increase by doing something with them that other demons would not do. In this way, Vetis is a leader that we cannot imagine because he is able to harness the power of other demons around him who were not as strong as he was when they were holy angels. Indianapolis Biblical Horror Author Josephine LeonardJosephine Leonard is a native of Indianapolis who has put a lot of work into the study of demonology and this demon in particular. She has done work that shows how much of an important role in history he plays along with all the other angels and demons whose names we know. She has written her most recent books, Tales of the Demon and Whence They Came: The Beginning, in Indianapolis to show that we must be aware of the forces around us because they are all different and all unique.
Her work is something that anyone who is interested in the holies or the demons should take a look at because she has given us all an in depth view of what it means to be face to face with one of the demons from antiquity. Forneus - Grand Marquis of HellThe demon Forneus reigns in Hell as a Grand Marquis. He commands 29 legions and happens to be well-respected. He is a close companion of Lucifer and has made a definite impression on the realm. He is known for being well educated, which is a rare trait for a demon. Learn a little about his background and typically appearance just in case you meet him in all his hellish glory. The Traits of ForneusForneus most often takes the appearance of a great sea monster, which is in direct conflict with his high level of education and intelligence. His name is derived from the Latin word 'fornus', which means an oven. That is perfect because Forneus reigns in a place where flames rage every day. He has the ability to take on a human form when meeting with others. In fact, he seems to prefer the human form over his demonic form and often wears red robes and the crown of the Marquis. Forneus has become one of the most well recognized demons in the underworld, which only adds to his infamy. Forneus the ProtectorMyths suggest that he causes men to have good reputations in other worlds and he is an influential force in many men’s lives. Forneus is an expert in communication, rhetoric and foreign languages, and when he chooses to teach men these arts, it results in the transformation of their lives. Many even see an improvement in their social standing. This has made Forneus an excellent placeholder for Lucifer himself, and hell has certainly grown tremendously since Forneus influence began. Forneus also has the great distinction of having worked for both angels and demons, which makes him somewhat unique in Hell. Indianapolis Biblical Horror Author Josephine LeonardJosephine Leonard’s latest book series, Whence They Came and her short story novel, Tales of the Demon,, will mention Forneus and many other theological demons. Josephine Leonard promises to unveil Whence They Came later this fall, and she hopes legions of fans are waiting to get the very first look.
